North San Diego County is composed of 11 cities:
Location
The Northern third of San Diego County is approximately 30 miles from the city of San Diego and 100 miles south of Los Angeles.
Population
Approx. 750,000 residents live in the 11 communities (San Diego County has a population of 3 million).
Size
Approx. 30 miles north to south and 20 miles west to east.
Airports
Palomar Airport in Carlsbad is a commercial/commuter and general aviation airport. There are two general aviation airports in Oceanside and Fallbrook.
Shopping
Plaza Camino Real in Carlsbad, North County Fair in Escondido and Carlsbad Company Stores are large regional malls.
University
Cal State University San Marcos and several other colleges and junior colleges are conveniently located.
Transportation
In addition to air travel there is freeway 1-5 & 1-15 running North & South. Rail services run along the coast and a major bus station is in Oceanside.
Beaches
5 of the11 North San Diego County cities are located on the ocean, representing approx. 30 miles of beach and coastline.
Water skiing
Agua Hedionda lagoon which borders Carlsbad has water-skiing, jet skis, sailing and other boating activities.
Yacht Harbor
Large marina in Oceanside with quick access to the Pacific Ocean.
Golf courses
Over 30 championship golf courses are in North San Diego County plus quite a few “executive” courses.
Newspapers
The primary paper is North County Times (Tel: 760-740-5432). The area is also serviced by the San Diego Union Tribune (Tel: 619-299-3131) and may community weeklies.
Weather
Average temperature along the coast is in the 70s and approx. 10-15 degrees warmer in the inland communities. Average rainfall is 7 -10 inches.
Sports
Most of the North San Diego County is loyal to the San Diego Chargers and San Diego Padres. Stadium is approx. 40 minutes south of North County. Locally there are world class tennis and golf matches held at the La Costa Resort and Spa.
Hospitals
Major regional Tri-City hospital, world famous Scripps clinic and many community hospitals.
Job base
Multiple industrial parks offer excellent employment opportunities.
Housing
A wide variety of housing including: town homes, single family homes and estates. Values will range from $75K to several million dollars. Average price is $221K.
